Not everything is always perfect at Star Wars Weekends. I love the event and think it is fantastic fun for the person/family/friends who enjoy Star Wars and Disney. As good as an event as it is, there are flaws in the plan. The elimination of both Who Wants to be a Millionaire –Star Wars Edition and the Adult trivia comes to mind when thinking of things that have made the event less attractive recently. Fans patiently await a new wrinkle and the ever coming overhaul of Star Tours (this year coming I hope!) to make up for the losses here. Matt has done his best to help with the Weekend #1 Dinner Event this website has planned, and thank the maker he set this up. Still the Universe is ever changing. Enter the latest possible twist. < read more »

STAR WARS WEEKENDS, finally here in the first week of May we are thrown our first tid bit of information. You are going to like the way it is presented as Disney has done a great job of making this release more interactive and one the whole family can enjoy. Are you going to follow the path forged by the Jedi and become a Jedi Knight or do you intend to go down the path of the Sith Lords, learning the ways of the Darkside? At the Disney Hollywood Studios page you can now begin your Star Wars Weekends journey by clicking on this link. read more »
Each year the Celebrity meet and greets has ended up being one of the highlights of the Star Wars Weekends experience for my family. Like most of the other things at Star Wars Weekends, this takes some planning and is one of the more difficult tasks to complete if you are looking for all of the celebrity autographs for one weekend. In the past few years there have been at least three autographs available. This year is no different with Warwick Davis being available all four weekends. read more »
The Logo for Star Wars Weekends is something I look forward to each year. It is the backdrop for the event, sometimes being specific to a movie release or an anniversary. Other times it is simply a creative tie in between the two worlds of Disney and Star Wars. The evolution of these logos over the years has been interesting to watch. One of the things I always loved about the early ones was their simplicity. The first logo depicted a light saber cutting through the darkness and producing a Mickey shaped cut. The second one had R2-D2 producing a hologram of Mickey Mouse. The third Jedi Mickey and Yoda back to back with light sabers ignited with the fourth giving us Mickey with Minnie as Luke and Leia in 2004 in a scene straight out of Episode IV. 2005 gave us the Revenge of the Sith release with a Darth Vader helmet over fire and lava, a gloved Mickey hand drawing mouse ears on the top of the helmet. read more »
While reading Matt Hochberg’s column on "Missing from Star Wars Weekends" I was reminded of my secondary frustration with the event. My first is just as Matt has described, the poor release of information, handcuffing anyone who might be on the fence about attending the event. It is too good a draw for Disney/Lucas over the past several years not to get this information together and out sooner. Does anyone really doubt there will be a Star Wars Weekends 2009 with two television productions coming online?
Finally there has been some movement on the informational front for Star Wars Weekends. We now have our first look at the pins for SWW, which you can see here at: http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/pin?id=34956
Personally I am very fond of the Mickey/Stitch pin and the Stitch as the Emperor pin. Both of these look well done and not too forced as an art work. The Darth Maul/Donald pin is also clever looking and very likely another preview to the Big Fig that will be coming soon. All of these fit in well with the artworks of the past and do the celebration justice.
There are a few others that come off pretty well. Donald as Han Solo looks decent, and the hair will give you a good laugh. I don't really see a problem with that one. Minnie as Princess Leia is a good one along with Daisy as Aura Sing the bounty huntress. read more »
So here is what we have right now. Five celebrity names have been leaked via various sites and the list is already looking impressive. Each presents you with a different reason for wanting to attend, but in all there are no weekends that appear to be a bust. Of course as we have seen in the past, celebrities are subject to change, and people could be shuffled about through the weekends. read more »
Ok, everyone has their favorites, and the Ewoks are cute, Chewy is fun and even the Jedi have that positive vibe thing going, but I have an affinity for those portrayed as the villain’s of this saga. There is something about stepping into the realm of Imperial Rule that brings the balance necessary to make Star Wars Weekends the complete event it is. Too often you can only explore the “good” in a particular movie or group of characters, but those who are vilified are often the same ones who give the story the air it needs to breath. Enter the greatest group of characters ever imagined, those who shaped a galaxy and made legends. read more »
