A lot of the articles in this column are subtle references to many things and most are overlooked by the average guest in the park. This week's is no different but there's a definitive reason why it's there. If you've been on the Backlot Tour or gone to see Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show, you may notice some large buildings near the entrance to Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show and on the garage door of one of the buildings is a sign for "Tri-city Auto Repair". It may seem arbitrary but there's a good reason why this garage is named that.

The name of the garage refers to the original intention for the Streets of America area. The Streets of America was previously known as New York Street, and as you might imagine was named that because the area was modeled to look like you were in New York City. In 2004, the area was renamed the Streets of America because the scope of the area was to be expanded beyond just New York City. San Francisco was promptly added. So why the Tri-city name?  The plan was (and still is) for Chicago to be added as another street scene, which would then make the name of the auto repair shop fit. Below is a shot down the street of where the Chicago street scene is rumored to be added to the end of the street near the gray wall.

No official word on when this change will occur, however given the name of the auto repair garage, it is likely to be an eventual addition to the area.
