Why it's there: Muppet Babies

Many of the references in the parks refer back to the 1930's, 1940's and earlier. But not everything in the Studios is for the baby boomer generation or older. In one of my favorite stores, the Stage One Company Store, is a multitude of Muppets references. But today, we're focusing on a somewhat more subdued reference to the Muppets that anyone who grew up in the 1980's would appreciate.

An entire section of the store (the part closest to Pizza Planet) is themed after the nursery scene in the Muppet Babies television show. The merchandise here isn't Muppet Babies related (perhaps it was when the Studios first opened), but the theme is very clear that it's meant to reference the Muppet Babies show, whereas the rest of the store is a reference to the Muppets of the adult variety.

You can see the wallpaper extends around the store to match that same wallpaper that was around the Muppet Babies nursery area. The cash register in the area is themed to look like a doll house that would have also fit right in. There's one more reference to the Muppet Babies, although it's a classic Disney play on words and is a mixed reference back to the regular Muppets and that's "The Great Diaper Caper", which is referencing "The Great Muppet Caper" film.
