Every week I’ll be answering any question about the Disney-MGM Studios from planning questions to “what happened to...” questions. So if you’ve got something you’ve been wondering about or simply need clarification, please feel free to email them to me (use the form below).
Matt,
Are we allowed to carry bottled water/drink boxes and snacks in with us? - Gerald G.
Absolutely! You can bring in food or drinks with you without any problem. The bag check you see at the gates of each of the theme parks are to check for weapons and anything else dangerous. You will have no problem bringing in your own food and beverages and I always bring my own bottled water which helps save a great deal of money considering how much it is for drinks and how quickly that can add up/
Any idea as to when the star wars weekend will occur?
It looks like every year it falls the last two weeks in May and first two weeks in June. We are trying to plan our vacation around this event. When will this be announced? Thank you - Tracy
This is probably the most common question I get and the answer is the dates are usually announced late January-Early February. Right now there are now announced dates, however, ther event is going to occur in 2007 and we already know some of the weekends will be in June for certain. What we don't know is if the dates will be in May because in May, there is a Star Wars celebration going on in California which as fueled speculation that Star Wars Weekends this year weill be condensed to June only or pushed back somewhat. Again, wait until the end of the month or so and check back at this site.
Of the sit-down restaurants at the Studios, which is the best? - Jason W.
The best depends on what you value. If it's bang for your buck, Hollywood and Vine. Entertainment? 50's Prime Time Cafe. Desserts? Prime time with honorable mention to the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater. Easiest place to get a table? Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano. Overall, Hollywood & Vine is great, with Mama Melrose's a good second. Hollywood Brown Derby has good food, however it's expensive.
