Welcome to another week of Ask Matt where every week I try my best to answer any question about the Disney-MGM Studios from planning questions to “what happened to...” questions. So if you’ve got something you’ve been wondering about or simply need clarification, please feel free to email them to me (use the form below).
Are there any filming soundstages or cameras and equipment left for rental at MGM or did they just let it all go. Thanks! - Andy S.
Real production spots in the Studios seem few and far between these day, especially since the Animation department left the Studios a few years ago now. In addition, the park has been canibalizing some of the soundstages for Toy Story Mania as well as other projects along Mickey Avenue. The costuming and prop areas (as seen on the Backlot Tour) are still around and functioning and I suspect the filming equipment has been shipped westward, but they still have enough equipment in terms of cameras and other filming equipment to record, at least for television as we see each year at ESPN the Weekend, live broadcasts from the park.
Where can I buy items from that relate to the Rock 'n Roller Coaster? - Victoria
If a merchandise item from the park is still in stock , you can purchase it by contacting Disney Merchandise and calling 407-363-6200. If it is in stock you could have it within 5 business days. If you don't have a particular item in mind, your next best bet is to look on sites like eBay for what they have available there. Outside of the parks, it's difficult to get a hold of Rock 'n Roller Coaster themed merchandise.
What happered to the real cast of disney show that was on television and what are they doing now? Thanks - Victor
I think you're referring to the cast of the Mickey Mouse Club that you have seen on television on the Disney Channel in the 90's that was filmed at the Disney-MGM Studios. This TV show was one of the first productions at the Studios and ran from April 24, 1989 until it ended production in 1995, with reruns going another year into 1996.
Five members of the show (Damon Pampolina, Tiffini Hale, Chase Hampton, Albert Fields and Deedee Magno) broke off and formed the musical group The Party, and released four full length albums: Later on, in Seasons six and seven, there was some real talent as we saw Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling, Keri Russell, and JC Chasez all appear on the cast of the show and of course, later went on to become big names in entertainment. Beyond those listed, not many did anything of notoriety to be remembered by.
