Every week I’ll be answering any question about the Disney-MGM Studios from planning questions to “what happened to...” questions. So if you’ve got something you’ve been wondering about or simply need clarification, please feel free to email them to me (use the form below).
I am a little confused?? There seems to be a lot of different dates and info re: Star Wars. My family and I are headed to Florida from Aug17-Aug24 - will we be able to catch a Star Wars weekend at this time?? Also - I saw something about the Ewok Village?? Is this already gone?? Is the Star Wars area a constuction Zone?? My children are looking forward to this part of the park and I don;t want them to be disappointed when we get there. What can we expect at our time of travel in this area? - Cheryl
Let's start with Star Wars Weekends. Star Wars Weekends only occured in June this year, so when you and your family go to the Studios in August, there will not be any Star Wars Weekends. The best you can get is to ride on Star Tours and meet Darth Vader and perhaps a Storm Trooper. Ask a Cast member when you get to the park about where and when they are available for meet-n-greet.
Regarding the Ewok village, currently there are plans to partially and totally replace the Ewok village with a stage for Jedi Training Academy, which would make the attraction a permanent addition to the parks (currently it's only offered during Star Wars Weekends). I have not heard of any dates yet for when construction is to commence, but as of the writing of this article, construction has not begun yet.
Hi Matt,
I will be going down to WDW this October 12th thru the 19th. How are the crowds and are there any special events going on at the Studios or any of the parks for that matter?
Love WDW today podcast with the rest of the guys and even Len. - Bruce
The dates you're going are going to be pretty good in terms of crowds. October 12 is Columbus day so that weekend may be a little more crowded than usual (some people still get off for that holiday) but beyond that weekend, it should be smooth sailing and crowds should be very low. In terms of special events, you'll be smack dab in the middle of the Playhouse Disney in Concert series at the Studios and you'll be able to catch the Imagination Movers and Johnny and the Sprites. More information on this can be found here. In addition, Mickey's Not-So-Scarry Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom and Food & Wine Festival at Epcot will be occuring.
And thanks for listening to the podcast and I'm glad you've found a way to put up with Len (haven't we all?)
Hi was just wandering the times of performances for beauty and the beast? Are they on every day/night? - Vicky
There are still indeed showings of Beauty & the Beast showing at the Studios on a daily basis. The shows are every day, although how many shows and when the first one occurs, is dependent on the park hours and how crowded the park is expected to be. Generally the first showing of the day isn't until about 10-11am or so and you will find it running at select times throughout the day. You may find this old article I wrote on how to work in all of the shows at the Studios helpful.
