Every week I’ll be answering any question about the Disney-MGM Studios from planning questions to “what happened to...” questions. So if you’ve got something you’ve been wondering about or simply need clarification, please feel free to email them to me (use the form below).
Will the 4 Disney weekend Big Figs be available in non-limited editions (without seals) in the park and downtown disney stores after the weekends? This is what happened with last years Jedi Mickey who is now available without the seal and signature. - Juli
According to Disney, should any Big Figs remain after all four weekends, Disney will fulfill orders on the event "wish list". Beyond that, they may sell the figures if any remain to the general public once again, most likely from the Animation Gallery store at the Disney-MGM Studios. There has been a certain assumption that the Big Figs will sell out at some point and certainly not make it beyond the wish list.
Matt,
Some 20 years ago my wife and I were extras in a film with Robin Williams and Walter Cronkite. Today I understand that this film was called "Back to Neverland".
We have never had the chance to see it, but understand that it was shown for several years in Florida. Today I even found a photo on the inter net with my wife (Viviana) in the center. I am standing behind Walter Cronkite in this shot.
Is this video available? How might I find it? - Denis
What a great story and how lucky you and your wife were to be able to be there for the taping and also be in a shot of the video. This is one of my all time favorite pre-show videos (perhaps even better than the Muppetvision 3D preshow video in my opinon) and I really loved to watch it. When the video aired at the Magic of Disney Animation, it was when real production was still occuring at the Studios, and because of that, Disney didn't allow guests to tape or photograph anything during most of the tour. Because of that rule, there isn't a whole lot out there. I did manage to find a clip of the film for those who want to reminisce but the clip is not the beginning where you and your wife can be found.
If anyone has a copy of the video, please feel free to send it to me and I'll post it for everyone to see.
I was reading the first part of your History of Star Tours article yesterday and was amazed by all the great information you have there. How in the world do you know all of that information? - Gregg
I wish I could take all the credit for the information there, but I cannot. I spent a considerable amount of time on the Internet researching the background and story of Star Tours and have to thank a few notable sources. First, Jim Hill has a wealth of great stories on his site, my good friend Martin Smith produced a great video on the subject and LaughingPlace interviewed Disney Imagineer Tony Baxter a while back that had some great tidbits in there.
Stay tuned for the conclusion of the History of Stat Tours on Thursday of this week.
