Every week I’ll be answering any question about the Disney-MGM Studios from planning questions to “what happened to...” questions. So if you’ve got something you’ve been wondering about or simply need clarification, please feel free to email them to me (use the form below).
I was wondering what your thoughts are on the recent single ride (and FASTPASS) lines put in at the Rock N' Roller Coaster.
I'm not sure if you've gotten a chance to visit since they've done the work or if you've seen any pictures but I really like what they've done.
We used it this past week and waited less than 10 minutes while there was a 50 minute wait for standby.
I thought they themed it well also with a special "artists" entrance.
Let me know your thoughts.Thanks-Keep up the great work!
- Bryan
I haven't had a chance to ride it myself yet (I'm hoping to get down there this summer), but from what I've observed, the single rider line is working well. Like any attraction, it helps to have a single rider line for those folks who want to ride it quickly and don't mind not riding with a friend or family member. Plus, the attractions with single rider lines tend to appeal most to the thrill seeking community, of which many are young males and females who don't necessarily come to Walt Disney World with the family anyway.
I am planning to come to the park this summer and need information about a particular shop. When I was there in September 2005, I found a shop that hand paints a Disney picture of your choice and then transfers the picture to a watch face. I want one of these watches and I want to start the process from here before I come down. Is there anyway to contact this shop so I can have my watch made before I come? - Jean B.
I'm pretty sure the shop you went to was Sunset Club Couture, which is on Sunset Boulevard (about halfway between the Tower of Terror and Hollywood Boulevard). The only option that I can think of is to contact the Disney Merchandise line and perhaps they can do something for you. Disney Merchandise's number is 407-363-6200. If it is in stock you could have it within 5 business days.
If my family and I are looking for the best place for a quick lunch at the Disney-MGM Studios, where would you recommend? - Bonnie P.
The two best places for lunch, in my opinion, are Backlot Express and ABC Commissary. Both are great for quick meals, with ABC Commissary offering a little more variety if you're not one for the usual theme park fare and it also has ample indoor seating. The only problem with Backlot Express is around meal times, crowds from a just finished showing of Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular may descend upon the restaurant, which temporarily jams the line for a bit. My advice is to go ride Star Tours and come back and the line should be gone.
