Every week I’ll be answering any question about the Disney-MGM Studios from planning questions to “what happened to...” questions. This week I'm trying to clear out my inbox of Star Wars Weekend questions that I've been sitting on in hopes of getting a good answer by now. So if you’ve got something you’ve been wondering about or simply need clarification, please feel free to email them to me (use the form below).
Hey Matt,
Was wondering if the is any information out there that sheds some light on the release schedule of the big figs (which one on which weekend). I was also wondering if this year's event was going to have a collectable coin like the past years. Any other news on merchandise besides what is posted will be greatly appreciated. Thanks again. - Jerald
As you've likely heard by now, the Big Figs are being released one per week. If you can't make it down for Star Wars Weekend the weekend the Big Fig you want is being sold, you have two basic options. First is the Big Figs are already being pre-sold on eBay. There is a considerable markup associated with this, of course and some people have moral issues with those that buy the figures to sell on eBay. The other option is any leftover Big Figs will be put for sale following Star Wars Weekends to anyone on a "wish list". More information on this option can be found here.
As for coins or any other merchandise, nothing has been announced yet. I'd like to think the coins will return this year, as they've always been sold in previous years. The good news is I'm going to be blogging live from the park on the first weekend of Star Wars Weekends so I'll provide all the information I can about merchandise as soon as I can get to it (right after I place a few items on eBay...)
How many guests go dressed up and would we be allowed to bring our FX lightsabers? - Matt and Tracy G.
There's a sizable amount of guests who get dressed up. Most wear a Star Wars shirt but there are still many who dres in costume. I can't put a number on it, but somewhere around 25% I'd estimate (mostly children, but there are a lot of adults). I know it can seem dorky now but once you're in the park, it's a whole new ballgame and you will fit in quite well.
Regarding your lightsaber, you should be able to bring yours in. They sell lightsabers in the park, you just may want to be careful not to damage yours and to have someone to hold it if you go on any rides.
Hi Matt, Love this web site!! As you can see I'm pipper011 on your web site. My question is this, do you know how the beanies and the big fig distrebution will be like?? Like for example every weekend 1,000 beanies will be available and 1 big fig for each weekend. I'm going to weekend 2 and 3. So if you get any info I'll greatly appreciate it. Thanks - Laz
I answered your question in a previous email regarding the Big Figs and if you stil have any questions, feel free to write back in!
Will the celebrities sign more than one picture? Or do you have to wait in line twice? Also if you don't have a picture for them to sign do you have to pay for one? - Alison C.
Officially, they will sign one item. However, many celebrities are good about signing a second item if you ask politely. There are a few celebs in the past who have been stringent, to say the least (Anthony Daniels comes to mind and should be noted as he will be attending this year). However, it never hurts to ask.
If you don't have a photo or part of your body you want signed, Disey does provide a photo for free to get signed.
I read somewhere that they say they don't have the Star Wars parade on Fridays only on Sat and Sun!Is this true or do we have to change our plans of going on the Friday 6/15!My son and daughter are dying to see this. Please fill me in with the correct info.Thank you - Adam G.
That would be false. The Star Wars parade has been shown in years past on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. It should be noted that we don't have the 2007 schedule yet and of course, there's always a chance it could all be changed, but I can tell you that every year in the past, the Star Wars parade has been shown on every day of Star Wars Weekends and I haven't heard of anything else that would say otherwise.
