Every week I’ll be answering any question about the Disney-MGM Studios from planning questions to “what happened to...” questions. So if you’ve got something you’ve been wondering about or simply need clarification, please feel free to email them to me.
What will be the best day to visit between Nov23 and Nov26th. I know it will be very crowded. Just wondering if there was a better day than the others.
Also, what is the differences between base, plus, and premium tickets. Could not find this anywhere. - Matt M.
The answer to your question comes from the author fo the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World at TouringPlans.com which has a very lovely crowd calendar which is great for anticipating crowd levels. Since this site focuses on the Disney-MGM Studios, I'll assume you want to know which day you're there would be best to visit the Studios. Likely, the best day would be Sunday (November 26) because by then crowds really empty out because most folks are going home. If you're leaving on the 26th, the next best day would be Thursday (November 23).
As for the difference in tickets, the difference between base, plus and premium is what you get with it. A base ticket simply gets you into one park for each day purchased. The plus ticket allows for park hopping, which means you can go to any of the 4 theme parks on each day and be able to go from one to another without a problem. The premium pass gets you the park hopping as well as options to visit the water parks, Pleasure Island and DisneyQuest. For more information be sure to check out Deb Wills' ticket comparison page.
Where Who Wants to be a Millionaire Play It used to be, what is going to be or what is already in its place now? - Matt S.
The current rumor is that a new attraction called "Midway Madness" will be going into the soundstage that Millionaire used to occupy. The latest construction to go on was gutting the building of Millionaire stuff as well as doing some electrical work in the ground. What is Midway Madness? At it's basic level, it's Disney's answer to Universal's Spider-Man attraction. It's going to be alot like Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin but much more advanced and will feature Pixar characters, with emphasis on Toy Story. This site recently did a write up on the topic a week ago or so with all the information available and you can see it by clicking here.
I just got home last night from going to super soap weekend. I had an amazing time and of course I bought lots of gifts for my children. One of the gifts that I bought was a necklace with a flipflop and diamond studs, my daughter wore it to school today and came home with one of the studs already missing. I paid $18.00 for this and though it is not real silver or gold I did think it was going to last more than one day. I have to say that I am extremely upset that Disney would sell a product that would fall apart immediately. My daughter is 9 years old and is very capable of taking care of her jewelry. Please tell me what am I supposed to do with this necklace now. - Amy L.
Having had an ear pierced for a few years, it's been my experience that studs and backings can fall out for no reason at any time, however I don;t think that will make you feel any better. You have two options at this point. If you feel the item is defective, you can contact Disney merchandise by calling 407-363-6200. Not sure how helpful they will be but that should be your starting point.
If you want to replace it, you can order any item from the park via Disney Merchandise by calling 407-363-6200. Becuase it's a Super Soap Weekend item, it may or may not be available anymore but it certainly is worth looking into.
I've heard about a walkway path from Boardwalk to MGM. Where is it? How long is it? - TJ L.
The walk can be in the ballpark of 10-20 minutes, depending on how fast you walk. However, it feels like a much longer walk than it does on a map. It's on a rather boring path with not much to see (aside from the occasional lizard or duck). If you're going during the hotter months of the year (May-September), I wouldn't walk it because there's little shade and I'd rather take a nice air conditioned bus. A tip I've heard is to shorten the trip a bit, cut through the BoardWalk pool area, just past the slide.
When should I see the Osborne Family Lights? - Lisa S.
There are two ideal times to see the Osborne Lights. The absolute best time is during Fantasmic!. During the 30 minutes or so of the show, you will find crowds for the lights very, very light. Since some people only come to the Studios one day per stay, that might not be an option. The other best time is 30 minutes or so after the Lights are turned on. The lights come on at 6pm on every night and there is usually a crowd waiting for them to turn on so the first wave should be sufficiently through by about 6:30.
