Every week I’ll be answering any question about the Disney-MGM Studios from planning questions to “what happened to...” questions. So if you’ve got something you’ve been wondering about or simply need clarification, please feel free to email them to me (use the form below).
I thought I read that during the refurb that RnRC was installing a single rider line. Do you know if its up and running? That would be awesome news for my solo trip next weekend. - Nick J.
The single rider line at Rock 'n Roller Coaster is still under construction. Back in January Coaster closed for a few weeks and reopened with its lines very different. Right now where the outdoor queue used to be is walled off and a small outdoor queue for the standby line and a modified FASTPASS line remain. Inside the building, the internal queueing area is gone and in the preshow area, guests can only come in through the "lower" viewing area. Click here to see photos of the changes.
At some point, Disney will finish construction and the single rider line will be added. I haven't heard anything solid in terms of dates of it finishing, although the latest rumor I've heard is March 30th but that's not really a date I would bet on.
On a recent trip to MGM I tried to find the Singing in the Rain umbrella but coiuldn't find it. Did someone remove it? - Anna C.
When construction workers were putting up the Osbrone Lights in 2006 they accidently damaged it and since then, the umbrealla has been removed and all that remains is a black box where it used to be. There hasn't been any confirmed news on if or when it will return but at first when it was removed, it sounded like it would be back after the Lights were taken down and it could be repaired but as time goes on, one begins to wonder if it be back.
Is Lightning McQueen still in the afternoon parade? I heard he isn't there anymore and I really want to see him! - Pauline S.
You heard correctly, Lightning is no longer in the afternoon parade. He used to be in the afternoon parade but has since been removed. However, you can still meet him and Tow Mater in a daily meet-n-greet that is usually held in front of Sounds Dangerous.
